Employment Law introduces the issues involved in the regulation of employees and their relations with their employers. It explains the framework governing employment contracts, dismissal procedures and redundancy payments. The book also covers TUPE, discrimination law and family-friendly legislation, as well as practice and procedure.
The book has been updated to take account of the main recent and proposed developments in employment law and practice, including the Employment Rights Bill and Labour’s plans for extending time limits for bringing claims, recent changes to the law on sexual harassment, a number of Acts which have extended ‘family friendly’ rights and flexible working, and changes to employment tribunal procedure, including the updated Employment Tribunal Procedure Rules 2024 and introduction of the HMCTS and CitizenUI digital platforms.
Key case law has been updated, including the Supreme Court judgment in For Women Scotland Ltd v The Scottish Ministers.
The book is up to date as at 1 September 2025, although account has been taken of some later developments in October 2025.
